LOCAL BUSINESS AWARDS 2009 - ARTFOCUS: WINNERS!!!!!!!!!!

Warringah art exhibition 2010

The quality & calibre of artworks presented at this year's Warringah Art Exhibition were outstanding and an evolution again from yeas past. The event, hosted by Artfocus Gallery & Studio and organised by Warringah Shire Council, was a great success with a packed opening night and constant flow of viewers during the ensuing weeks.

The 'Waste-To-Art' segment was once again present, with the gallery being adorned by many wonderfully creative sculptures and installations which were made purely from recycled products, the theme of a greener earth being the undeniable underlying motive.

All artworks were judged by a panel of professionals with resulting finalists displaying a varied mix of realism, abstract and mixed media which were proudly displayed on our walls for the duration of the exhibition.

LOCAL BUSINESS AWARDS 2010

WINNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Artfocus have done it again! For the second year running we were stoked to be announced winners for our category in the coveted Local Business Awards for 2010, held by Precedent Productions at the Dee Why RSL in May!

It goes without saying, but without your support and most importantly your votes none of this would be possible; so we'd like to thank all our staff, students, mailing list, clients past & present as well as those in the greater community who took the time out to vote and crown us winners once again :) THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

It is an honour which we don't take lightly, as here at Artfocus Gallery & Studio we constantly strive to bring a smile to your face with a depth and warmth that brings not a only a positive change in your lives, but also quality artworks and service from the Northern Beaches' premier arts facility. SO come down for the fine art or just a friendly chat - you know where to find us ;)

ARTFOCUS: FINALISTS FOR 2010'S LOCAL BUSINESS AWARDS!

On behalf of Artfocus Gallery & Studio, I’d like to thank you all for your ongoing support this last year and above all for those of you who went out there and voted for us.

We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Finalists for this year’s Local Business Awards. To our clients, students and friends: you are the best – we love you all!

….and to all those new to the gallery: a big welcome - we look forward to seeing you down here at Artfocus.

 Young Local Artists Wanted!

Artfocus Gallery's highly successful young art exhibition Local Produce is back for another year in 2010...and we want you!

Local produce is a celebration of youth, art, design, and all things creative from the northern beaches. So if you are an artist (under 30ish) from Sydney's northern beaches and are keen to get your artwork out of the studio and into a gallery, and to meet other young artists like like you, please apply.

This year we are looking for 15 bright young stars of the Northern Beaches arts scene - whether you are a graphic designer, illustration meastro, photographer, painter, sculptor, film or street artist- we want to see what you are making.

What to Show Us

Each artist will be allocated approximately 3mWx2.4mH wall space, and the option of using some of the floor space in front of your wall. You don't have to use all of that space, but you won't have any extra! So we would need a proposal of how you would use your allocated space were you to be selected.

What we'd love to see is a rough concept sketch/hanging plan and short proposal of what you intend to do with the space allocated to you for the show. Along with this please send one or two images of previous work you have done that will indicate how your work for the show will turn out.

We're looking to see a continuum of work from each artist - a body of work or collection or works that tells a story about you as an artist.

And quite importantly we ask that the work you are showing be 100% original and not showcased anywhere before the show.

This year's show will be in November 2010, and will be sure to again draw crowds of over 400 people on opening night - a great opportunity to get exposure for your work and maybe even sales!

So if you would like to apply for selection - please send your email proposal and short bio to info@artfocusgallery.com.au by Friday 28th May 2010.

LOCAL PRODUCE '09: OH WHAT A NIGHT!!!

WOW!!! What night to remember!!!!

Thanks to all who came down to make it such a blast; we had no less than 600 people through the door at any given moment - the gallery was packed all night long!!!

The young stars of the night - the artists - mingled with the hottest, most stylish crowd seen at an art function this side of Paris or New York: you're all beautiful! But the most stunning of all were the pieces of art, of which many were sold.

Follow this link for some snap-shots of the night (courtesy of our good friends @ Tudor Photography) or take a look to your left and see all the happy faces!!!

Thanks to all who were involved in making the night such a success; a special mention must be made to resident artist Carly Casey for coordinating what was by all accounts 'the exhibition of the year'. Carly's dedication & organisation 'produced' (sic) what could only be described as a fun-filled explosion of creative merriment, giving rise to a place for local talent to converge in an environment so positive that it is sure to have the masses return for the next episode.

If you couldn't make it to Opening Night, or to the gallery while the exhibition was showing, make sure you put Local Produce into your diaries for October 2010 :)

Cya'll then!

MANLY VILLAGE LIFE ART COMPETITION

Artfocus Gallery is helping to organise a mural art competition for this years Manly Arts Festival.

Manly Village Life is a concept created to beautify the streetscape surrounding local building sites - to use them as a temporary art space for all of the community to see, and to participate in.

When local developers Jim Casey (JP&S Casey Builders) and David Allen began work on their new project on the corner of Pittwater Rd & Carlton Street, The Carlton, they decided that the traditional construction-site hoarding could be put to a much more creative and community-based use. They teamed up with local art studio Artfocus to bring together Manly Village Life.

Manly Village Life will be a competition that opens up this space to local artists - of all ages - encouraging them to bring their own brand of creativity and interpretation to this temporary art space, using the theme "Manly Village Life" as inspiration.

The competition is open to three categories: Youth Artists (18 and under) - including school groups, art groups etc.; Contemporary Artists - including mural artists; Street and/or Graffiti Artists - urban artworks.
